Developmental Editing:
You’ve just finished writing and you’re ready for a first read by another person. Often the first step of the editing process, developmental editing focuses on the ideas and concepts presented in a piece of writing. A developmental editor will be looking at the content as a whole and providing suggestions to fix holes in your reasoning, improve the flow of ideas, ensure the writing will land well with the target audience, and help you cut out anything that detracts from the piece’s goal or doesn’t need to be there.

Copyediting:
You know what you have written is full of great ideas and everything is organized in a logical sequence. Once you have all the big questions answered and sorted out, a copyeditor examines a piece of writing on a paragraph and sentence level to ensure ideas are presented clearly, grammar rules are followed, and any fluff or redundancy is cut out. Copyediting is more technical than developmental editing and is what people typically think of when someone says “editing.”

Proofreading:
You just need someone with a trained eye to look over your work and catch any minor errors before you publish. Typically the final stage of the editing process, a proofreader will comb through your work to find any errors in spelling, word usage (like their vs. there vs. they’re), and punctuation.

Our editor’s can do much, much, more than simple grammar and spell checking (But we’re happy to help with that too). Our team can help you with a variety of projects to make your content feel and read exactly how it needs to be. 

Yes. You can submit an unlimited number of projects, and we’ll get to them as soon as we can. Once a project is completed, we’ll move on to the next one in your list. We’ll go as fast as we can, but we’re humans – not super hero pandas. If you have a sudden need for additional editing we offer 1x boosts.

Our editing team will block off time for your projects based upon the amount of hours booked. Our word counts are guidelines; sometimes projects will take longer depending on what we are working through. For example, proofreading content which has already passed spellcheck will take much shorter than something which is full of GraMAR IsSuEs. We’ll reach out if we think a project will take longer than expected. 

Please note: We do not offer any SLAs or turnaround guarantees. We believe that all of our customers deserve well edited content, so this sometimes takes us a bit more time. Rest assured – we have capacity to handle your requests promptly!
